DAY 1
|
Today your journey begins by boarding your international flight to Chicago. On arrival make your way to your hotel in the heart of the city. The Omni Chicago. You have the rest of the day to begin exploring this famous midwest metropolis, perched on the shores of Lake Michigan.

DAY 2
|
You will start your day with an architectural tour of the city, enjoyed from a boat on the Chicago River. You will float pass over forty key Chicago sights and impressive skyline vistas. You will have the rest of the day at your leisure to explore the city. Take in the sights of Millenium Park and "Bean Sculpture" and don't forget " The Magnificent Mile" a mecca for shopping and the heart of Chicago's dining scene.

DAY 3
|
Today we head out of the city into rural Illinois, the starting point of Route 66. Collect your car from the hire depot. Your destination today is Springfield Illinois which is around a 5-hour drive. The city is famed for its long association with Abraham Lincoln who is buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery. There are plenty of photo opportunities today on your drive including the Gemini Giant, Swinging Bridges, The Bunyan Giant and the colourful murals in Pontiac.

DAY 4
|
Your journey southwest continues, today you travel only 100 miles but be sure to allow plenty of time for pit stops as you pass by some notable icons of Route 66. Look out for The Auburn Brick Road: an original brick topped stretch of the original Route 66.

DAY 5
|
|
A full day to explore St Louis, known as the " Gateway to the West". We recommend a visit to the Gateway Arch a spectacular landmark on the banks of the Mississippi. If you are feeling brave you can travel 630 feet to the top of the arch and enjoy the stunning views of St Louis and the Mighty Mississippi.

DAY 6
|
Today you are heading for Springfield Missouri the journey will take around 3 and a half hours.

When you arrive in Springfield we recommend a visit to Fantastic Caverns- an American Ride-Thru Cave. where you will see Stalactites, Stalagmites, columns and soda straws,

DAY 7
|
Your next Stop is Oklahoma City in Oklahoma. Today's drive will take you around 4 and a half hours.
Spend the rest of the day exploring the city at your leisure. We recommend the Oklahoma City National memorial- A Moment in time Illuminated tour.

DAY 8
|
As you leave Oklahoma City today, it is a straight shot west through Yukon, El Reno, Bridgeport, Hydro, Weatherford, Clinton, Elk City and Erick. The Mother road then crosses the Texas state at Texola near Shamrock and then onto Amarillo.
When you arrive in Amarillo we recommend a visit to the Palo Duro Canyon the USA's second-largest Canyon.

DAY 9
|
Soak up the beautiful mountain and desert scenery on the road to Alberquerque, New Mexico. One of the key historic routes on Route 66. When you arrive why not take the Sandia Peak Tramway for beautiful views of the city.

|
Todays destination is the small town of Winslow. Along the way, you will pass plenty of points of interest including the Skycity Acoma Pueblo and Petrified Forest National Park.

Continue your journey to the Grand Canyon which is around 3 hours. On the way, take a break from driving and stop at the mile-wide Meteor Crater that is around 50,000 years old.

You have a full day to explore the Grand Canyon Park at your leisure, you might like to explore one of the parks many hiking trails or simply take a hop-on-hop-off shuttle along the canyon rim to enjoy the many spectacular panoramas and viewpoints. |
DAY 13

Your journey towards Las Vegas today allows the opportunity to follow an original stretch of Route 66, where you will pass derelict gas stations and old Motels overgrown with foliage. As you approach Las Vegas you might like to visit the impressive Hoover Dam that impounds the Colorado River.

Enjoy a day at your leisure in Las Vegas; wander down its famous Strip, browse its many shops and arcades, or venture out to Rock State Park. This evening you may like to enjoy a spectacular show or if you're feeling lucky place your bets in one of its glittering casinos. |
Day 15
|
Complete your epic trip along Route 66 as you drive the final 300 miles of your journey. Today you will travel through the Mojave National Preserve, passing sand dunes, wildflowers, and Joshua trees, before reaching Los Angeles.
